Contrast: The red logo and line at the top of the page make it pop right from the beginning.
Repetition: I think the repetition I found is that the paragraphs are evenly spaced apart and about the same size.
Alignment: Everything in the paper is aligned to the left side, including the red line at the top.
Proximity: All the information is grouped together in a way that is easy to read and makes sense.
Purpose: The purpose is to get an employer to higher you over other options.
Audience: A potential employer.
Genre: Cover letter.
Engagement: By writing this, they gained experience of how to write this genre and how to present themselves to an employer.

Contrast: There's not too much contrast, but for this genre, I don't believe there needs to be a lot.
Repetition: There is also not a ton of repetition, but all the font matches up so this is a version of that.
Alignment: Besides the Washington State logo, everything is aligned to the left edge, and it looks good.
Proximity: All the information that goes together is together.
Purpose: To get an employer to higher you.
Audience: Potential employer.
Genre: Cover letter.
Engagement: Again, the writer of this got to present themselves in a way that would best convince somebody they were the best for the job.

Contrast: There is really no contrast at all in this one, besides the black text on the white paper.
Repetition: Each of the paragraphs are about the same size.
Alignment: I don't like the alignment on this one, it looks better when everything is aligned to the left margin.
Proximity: Again, all the similar information is grouped together.
Purpose: The purpose of this is actually a formal complaint, but I wanted to use the model as if it was a cover letter.
Audience: A potential employer.
Genre: Cover letter (actually a formal complaint).
Engagement: The writer got to express themselves and explain everything they're capable of doing for the job

My Transformation:

I used what I learned from looking at these samples to create what I think looks good. I used a template on Word, and made some changes to how I wanted it to be. This does not have everything I would include in a real cover letter, but I am not yet sure what entirely should be included.
